The program serves families in Madison, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Gibson, Crockett, Chester, Decatur and McNairy Counties. The program is free and voluntary. Healthy Start enrolls families prenatally or within 3 months of the child's birth. Home visitors meet with parents in the comfort of their home and cover a variety of topics including attachment and bonding, cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and social-emotional development, nutrition, positive discipline, and family specific values. Home visitors monitor the child's growth and development and conduct screenings to ensure milestones are met within appropriate time frames. Home visitors help connect families to community resources and events. The program conducts groups throughout the year to allow parents to learn together while bonding with other families. Home visitors tailor information to support the families' concerns and interests through curriculum from Great Kids, Inc.Home visitors can support families until the child is 5 years old.
Eligibility Requirements
Families must be currently pregnant or enroll within the first 3 months of the child's birth. Families must reside in Madison, Haywood, Henderson, Hardeman, Hardin, Gibson, Crockett, Chester, Decautro or McNairy County.
