K-Town Youth Empowerment Network
The K-Town Youth Empowerment Network (K-Town) is a mental health initiative in Knox County, Tennessee, serving youth transitioning to adulthood with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and their families. K-Town offers an effective approach to delivering mental health services and system transformation through an enhanced culturally competent, family driven, youth guided and coordinated system of care.
(1) Reside in Knox County, Tennessee; (2) Be between the ages of fourteen (14) through twenty-one (21) years; (3) Have a diagnosable emotional, behavioral, or mental health disorder. (4) Be unable to function adequately in the family, school, or community, or in a combination of these settings; OR require multi-agency intervention involving two (2) or more community service agencies as follows: -Youth or adult services offered by mental health, education, child welfare, juvenile justice, substance abuse, social services, vocational rehabilitation, housing, higher education, and primary health care; and (5) Be at risk for a higher level of care such as residential treatment, state custody, or hospitalization.
