American Job Center Tennessee: Education and Employment Assistance

Employment and educational services are available to job seekers and employers through the American Job Center - Tennessee. Our goal is to bring together Tennessee workers and employers in a safe, profitable workplace. We do this through a wide range of programs offering everything from adult education programs to retraining opportunities for workers who have lost their jobs to professional job applicants seeking a career change.

Eligibility Requirements

Any Tennessee resident is eligible. However, specific training offered may have specific eligibility criteria. Several types of training are available through the American Job Center - Tennessee such as resume writing, searching for work and interviewing. Adult education classes are available to refresh math, writing and reading comprehension in order to earn a GED. In addition, job seekers can earn Career Readiness Certificates.
All Job Centers offer computers with internet access. Use the Jobs4TN Web site to create and post a resume online for exposure to major Tennessee employers screening for employees.
American Job Center - Tennessee staff can refer you to employers who have open positions for which you qualify, help you prepare for interviews and arrange for you to apply. Often, Job Centers host hiring events and job fairs. Find a list of local job fairs here.
Job seekers can also learn about secondary education training from a Tennessee Technology Center or other certified programs available to adults and dislocated workers.
Job Centers have veterans' representatives who team with military branches to reach returning service members as they transition from military to civilian life. These representatives make sure veterans receive priority in employment and training referrals, career counseling, and to other agencies for special services.
Workforce training through the 13 Workforce Investment Areas that are partners in the Job Center System is provided to dislocated workers, those that have lost a job because of business closures, mass layoffs, economic climate, or as a result of a natural or man-made disaster.
