This program is an afterschool and summer drug prevention program for students at risk for substance abuse. The risk factors are low grades, poor school attendance, and poor conduct in school. The program uses the Early Risers Curriculum which includes parental involvement. Topics covered are education on various drugs of abuse and tobacco, bullying, peer pressure, and careers.
The eligibility requirements are youths between the ages of 9-15 who show one or more of the risk factors. The youths can be referred to the program by parents and teachers. They are primarily under 2 categories, disadvantaged youths and academically challenged.
